Hebrews 1:7-8

7 Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.” 8 But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

Sometimes things can be both physically close and a million miles apart. Servants stand near royals but there’s a huge difference between being next to the throne and being on the throne. The words ‘worshipper’ and ‘worshipped’ are spelled pretty similarly. Just one letter is different, still the difference is beyond measuring. In the Gospels, Jesus scandalized the Pharisees by allowing people to worship Him. Do you ever try to get a little worship yourself?

It’s in our nature to attempt the coup. We just slip that one letter from worshipper to worshipped. We decide that we should be the ones to make the decisions and receive the honor. That’s what sin is. Today, start by remembering that He has the scepter and sits on the throne. Instead of pretending to be the King, kneel before the True King.

Prayer Prompt: Lord, call my eyes up to see you forever and truly beyond me.
