John 4:13-14a
13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.
I once had a friend tell me that it didn't matter how much a certain cut of meat cost because it made him happy. He said, "It's good for my soul.” He’s not wrong. Some food can give a moment of true happiness, but that moment will fade. You will be hungry again.
As I read about Jesus sacrificing his blood and his body to atone for my sins, I can’t help but feel grateful and satisfied. I can’t think of a greater God than one who would humble Himself to my level by becoming a man to pay the price for me, just so He can be with me forever. That truth will satisfy me again and again. It’s the water that takes away my thirst forever!
Prayer prompt: God I pray that you will lead my heart to desire you more than the things of this earth.
