Why do we cry on almost every Disney movie when they kill off one of the parents in the first couple of scenes? We know it's a movie. We know it’s not real, but the tears still flow. Disney does a great job of quickly building a relationship between you and the characters. They feel real.
In the passage above Jesus is relating to these people as He feels their pain. Don’t forget Jesus is God. He was in the beginning and His kingdom will have no end, yet He is relating with these lowly sinners. He also relates with you and me. Don't you want a King that is all powerful, all knowing, everlasting, but still willing to step down from his throne to embrace you and weep with you?
