Matthew 3:16-17
16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Do you ever feel confused about the Trinity? Christians have always taught that God is three persons and one God. So do we believe in 3 Gods? No, just one. But He is just God the Father? No, The Father, Son, and Spirit. The Trinity is so confusing, why do we believe it?
First because it’s what the Bible teaches. Second, it is a beautiful truth. Look at God’s love for the Son as He comes out of the water, the descent of the Spirit to be with the Son. God has invited you into that love. The Son takes your sin so you see the Father’s face in love while you are filled with the never-leaving Spirit. What would we do without the Trinity?
