Hebrews 10:22-23

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

After what I’ve done, can I stand before God again? Every honest Christian goes through this moment. Forgiven and adopted you walked out into the world full of faith and excitement, then you sin again. If Heaven is God’s presence, and Hell is God’s absence, what do I do when my guilt makes me hide from God? Where else can I go?

It’s here that you have to remember: what got you in is going to keep you in. We become Christians by trusting a promise God made, that by calling on the name of Jesus, we will be forgiven for our sins. When we have an evil conscience because of some horrible new thing we’ve done, it’s time to trust that same promise. Draw near to God, in full assurance, trusting that He who promised is faithful.

Prayer prompt: Lord, teach me to remember the way you saved me so I will trust that you still love me.
