Proverbs 17:22 gives us this jewel of wisdom: “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” As we seek to glorify God in our homes, happiness and laughter play a key role. Teaching, correction, discipline, and hard work all have their rightful place … but don’t forget to laugh with your family too. Take time to tickle the young ones. Tell corny jokes around the dinner table. Play tag in the backyard. Turn on some fun music and do a silly dance. Our family created a Pandora station that plays songs from Disney, the Muppets, and the 1950s. We like to listen to it on Saturdays just to set a fun mood for the day. The kids dance around the living room, singing along to their favorite songs. “A joyful heart is good medicine.” Setting a tone of joy in your home will do everyone some good. So fill your house with laughter on a regular basis.
